David Ebner is on the cutting edge of designing and producing new modes of studio craft furniture that are fast becoming the definitive model of contemporary American art. "It's decorative art is what it is," said Ebner of his work which includes everything from a scallion-shaped coat rack to an elegantly styled wine table. "I'm taking studio art to another step without just being a reproducing craftsman."

Ebner uses history to his advantage by having studied from the masters such as Sam Maloof, George Nakashima and Wharton Esherick. His work is not just for art's sake, but functional art that is dedicated to exploring new frontiers of contemporary style. Ebner's work has been commissioned and displayed in such prestigious institutions as the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, the Smithsonian International Collection of Fine Art and the Yale University Museum.
